Books that I Digest

I managed to read some books till now. However, is in the fact that I read some pretty amazing books. Long after I finished reading these books, the lessons are still etched on my mind. That is becoming a trend by the way. I mean, missing the target but reading some amazing books. Moreover, I focused on reading Nepali language books more than that of others.
Some Books are here that I read:
  • Radha by Krishna Dharabasi
Krishna Dharabasi is one of the more creative Nepali writers out there. In this novel, Dharabasi has woven a tale that breaks the patriarchal storyline created by our religious texts and stories. Unlike in the religious scriptures, in this novel, Radha has been portrayed an independent woman fighting for her identify and respect. Dharabasi is right to portray the Mahabharat war as a war created by the egos of the elites where thousands of commoners died for nothing. Amazing book!
  • Palpasa Café by Narayan Wagle
Narayan Wagle is a good novel based on the scenario of the civil war declared by the Maoists. The novel revolves around the two central characters, Drishya and Palpasa, mostly moving along with its male protagonist. It is the story of an artist Drishya during the height of civil war in Nepal. It is part love story as well. It dwells, not only, into the effects of the civil war on Nepali countryside that the male protagonist travel to, but also takes about the blooming love between Drishya and the first generation American Nepali, Palpasa. Fantastic!
  • Sirish ko Phool by Bishnu Kumari Waiba
Shirish Ko Phool comes as a respite from otherwise politically dominated novels in Nepal. Written by Bishnu Kumari Waiba, known popularly with her pseudonym Parijat, the novel does not have any political grounds and is not influenced by politics in anyway. Although the book is only sixty pages long, it is capable of leaving a powerful impact on the readers.
The novel sings of pain and the bitter irony presented in the book will remain with the readers for a longer time. The characters to which people can relate themselves and also being a book with a heart are its major strength. The bitter and sad narrative and its expedition into the deepest thoughts of the main character having a universal character is what set the book apart from others.
  • The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck
The Good Earth written by Pearl S. Buck tells the poignant tale of a Chinese farmer and his family in old agrarian China. The humble Wang Lung glories in the soil he works, nurturing the land as it nurtures him and his family. Nearby, the nobles of the House of Hwang consider themselves above the land and its workers; but they will soon meet their own downfall. The story is amazing……….!
  • Khana Pugos Dina Pugos by Rabindra Mishra
Rabindra Mishra is a famous journalist who published his book ‘Khan Pugos Dina Pugo’, a collection of articles which were published in Kantipur and Nagarik daily in different series. All these articles were published between 2065 to 2068 B.S and there are altogether 53 articles in two sections. The first part is about philanthropy journalism and the second is about politics. Rabindra Mishra and his team run a Non-government organization “Help Nepal Network” which collects funds through different sources and use this on different social works. The main intend of these articles is to float their mission to public. This book mainly focus as to encourage people to participate on these type of social works physically and try to define peoples’ favor political system or lokkalyankari rajya i.e. ‘politics of popular will’ specially like scandevian countries. Best Collection!
  • Four years for the Rhino by Kamal Jung Kunwar
Four Years for Rhino written by Kamal Jung Kunwar is the experience during his conservation career in Chitwan. In this book, he write about the poaching and his effort to control the illegal killing and trade of rhino in Nepal. Actually, he had contributed a lot for the conservation of rhino in Nepal.
  • Bones of the Tiger by Hemanta Mishra
Bones of the Tiger written by Hemanta Mishra with Jim Ottaway Jr is a adventurous tale of one man's quest to save the man-eating tigers of Nepal. This book includes a story about the tiger conservation effort in Nepal and history of tiger in Nepal. Amazing stories of man eating tiger and tiger eating man.
  • Natural Coincidence (The Trip from Kalamazoo) by Bil Gilbert
Bil Gilbert occupies a special place in my heart and my library through Natural Coincidence (The Trip From Kalamazoo). He is one of America's most preeminent and popular essayists and nature writers. Natural Coincidence collects some of Bil Gilbert's finest writing, covering a diverse range of subjects that include investigations of the biology of Tasmanian devils, the lives and loves of snapping turtles, and an appreciation of the intelligence of crows. Worth to read!!
  • Maile Dekheko Nepal by Harka Gurung
There is very rare Nepalese people who visit all over Nepal by foot. Harka Gurung is also one who visited all parts of the country. He studied every aspect of Nepal very closely and wrote a book Maile Dekheko Nepal. This book not only explain his visit but also define all the cultural, geographical situation of the country. This will be one of the best book for those reader who want to know Nepal through words.
  • The Alchemist by Paulo Choelho
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is one of the best-selling books in history. The story of Santiago, the shepherd boy on a journey to realize his “Personal Legend” has inspired people all over the world to live their dreams. The main lesson that I leaned from it was there is only one way to learn. It’s through action.” You can study, read, and listen until you turn blue in the face, but the full experience is when you take action, and let the rubber meet the road. Once you’re done aiming, pull the trigger.
